Rewarded Videos

Rewarded Videos are full‑screen ads that show video content and reward users for watching the video. Users must agree (opt in) to the reward terms before watching the video and receive the reward once they close the ad. For example, a user may be rewarded with in-app currency for watching the video ad. The publisher determines the reward and is responsible for granting the reward. DT supports Rewarded Videos that use VAST 2.0, 3.0, and 4.x protocols.

Identifying Rewarded Video Inventory

Bid requests for Rewarded Videos follow the specification for video protocol or API framework and include a value of 1 for the video.ext.rewarded attribute that indicates Rewarded Video is supported. A value of 0 for this attribute indicates Rewarded Video is not supported.

Specifying Rewarded Videos in a Bid Response

DT accepts Rewarded Videos using VAST 2.0, 3.0, or 4.x protocols. Your bid response should use the VAST version requested by the publisher and include the necessary tracking and creative elements. Rewarded Videos should follow the exact specification of the video protocol or API framework passed in the bid request. The DT SDK Video Player provides the following video player elements for Rewarded Videos:

  • Skipability: Rewarded Videos are non-skippable, and no Skip button is presented to the user.

  • End Card Behavior: If a companion ad is included in the ad markup, the DT SDK presents the end card upon video close. Rewarded videos have the same end card behavior as non-rewarded videos.

  • Duration: Rewarded Videos must be 30 seconds or less in duration.

  • Orientation: DT has no orientation restrictions and abides by app and device settings. Ensure that your Rewarded Video creative is compatible with both portrait and landscape orientations.

Closing Rewarded Videos

When the Rewarded Video starts, the DT SDK presents a countdown timer at the top right corner of the video. After 30 seconds (or sooner, depending on video duration), the DT SDK presents a Close button.

Specifying your own countdown timer or your own custom close method or using the MRAID useCustomClose() method for Rewarded Videos may cause issues.
